We've begun supporting a year-long introductory CS course at an Upstate NY high school. Working together, we have written a new CS Curriculum that uses CSDTs to teach all the most fundamental elements of CS, while still fitting this teachers' class and style. It covers Parameters, loops, variables, conditionals, functions, and recursion with a final project at the end. Students are using the Quilting, Cornrows, and SciFi tools. The layout of the course is laid out in units with a vocab and guided practice at the beginning, and a challenge and project time at the end. The CSDT component will last 14 weeks until winter break when the class will switch gears to advanced Python programming.
