From June - July 2019 we held a workshop on Digital Fabrication for Community Development through the Upward Bound program at Eastern Michigan University. Students used the Adinkra CSDT, the Cornrows CSDT, and the Quilting CSDT. They also used WhatsApp to have a conversation with the Kumasi Hive students in Ghana. In the last week, they picked out their favorite virtual designs and physically rendered them in metal, wood and cloth using 3D printers and laser cutters as well as hand crafting. Students showed statistically significant increases in STEM interest and knowledge.
