3D Printing For Cornrows

To 3D print our cornrow curves hairstyles, we converted the final design's stage image into a greyscale image file, removing the background. We imported that into 3D Studio Max and assigned a texture map to the black and white source image file. We have a 3D plait model that we used to map over the source file, which creates the full 3D texture of the hair. We then import a bare head model which was purchased from a 3D Model store premade and mold the hairstyle around the surface of the bare scalp on the model. We export the finished model into a .STL file which can be scaled to an appropriate size for the 3D Printer in Cura. Then we print the heads in a Ultimaker 3D printer.
