Culturally Situated Design Tools (CSDT) at csdt.org is operated by the Center for Generative Justice.
This policy explains how we handle information on CSDT. It is written for teachers, parents, and students.

CSDT offers free educational tools that connect cultural practices with STEM learning. The Center for Generative Justice is the nonprofit steward of the platform. Learn more on our About page.
CSDT has been supported by the National Science Foundation. Opinions expressed on the site are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the NSF.
CSDT is designed for K–12 learners, teachers, and anyone exploring free educational tools. Teachers often create classrooms so students can save and share projects. You can browse many materials without an account.
We do not collect children’s personally identifying information.
To create an account, a student needs a username and password.
Email is optional. We do not check whether an email is real. Teachers may email us to request a password reset when a student did not use a working address.
We do not ask for a student’s legal name, home address, phone number, or date of birth. We do not sell children’s data or build advertising profiles of students.
We encourage usernames that do not include a child’s full real name.
We collect limited information so the service works:
We do not use this information to sell lists of users or target ads.
While CSDT was NSF-funded and operating under applicable research compliance, accounts once offered optional demographic fields (such as age, gender, or race) for research. We stopped collecting those years ago. They are not part of signup today.

Projects are not listed in the public gallery until they are approved. Published projects may show a username, title, description, screenshot, and project file. Do not put private personal information in projects.
Teachers can create classrooms, manage join requests, invite members by email, and approve student projects. Classroom membership is stored so teachers and students see the right work.
We use essential cookies for login and forms, and analytics for aggregate usage. Details are in our Cookies Policy.
Optional donations are processed by Stripe. Card details stay with Stripe. CSDT does not store card numbers.
CSDT has an optional Oral History feature separate from ordinary student signup. Submissions may include a name, photo, audio, and related details, and are reviewed before public display. To request removal, see Copyright and Content Removal.
We use trusted providers to host the site, store media, send email, run analytics and signup security, and process donations (including services such as Amazon Web Services, Google, and Stripe). They process information only as needed to provide those services. We do not sell data to them.
There is no self-service account deletion button today. Users can often delete their own projects and comments.
To request access, changes, account deletion, unpublishing, or a student password reset, email csdt@generativejustice.org. Teachers may contact us on behalf of students. See also Copyright and Content Removal.
We keep accounts and projects while the account is active, or until we process a valid deletion or removal request. Copies may remain briefly in backups until those backups rotate.
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do.
