RPI Architecture Student Example

"Kelly" by RPI architecture student Kelly Winn:

As a response to the first assignment I decided to use the graffiti tool to produce a design. Due to the risks and relative permanence involved in any form of counter culture expression, it is not surprising that many graffiti artists develop their designs for graffiti art in sketch form before it is reproduced on a wall. In order to develop my design, I decided to follow this method by first developing my design as a sketch and then seeing how difficult it would be to reproduce the given sketch in the graffiti online application. Noting that the online tool draws as a series of linked vectors, I represented my name as a series of vectors using an arrow motif as a visual key for the various vector paths. Similar to many typical graffiti designs a splash object would serve as a base and a few asterisks and shadows would add some finishing decoration.
